The Australian Asset Management Collaborative Group (AAMCoG) is a peak body represented by the key stakeholders involved with the Asset Management and Governance of Australia’s infrastructure. At the recent National Asset Forum hosted by the CRC for Integrated Engineering Asset Management (CIEAM) AAMCoG released its most recent publication “Guidelines for Strategic Asset Management”.

This guide is based on the Australasian Procurement and Construction Council Inc.’s (APCC) publication, Asset Management 2001. It reflects advances in asset management since the previous guide was developed and aims to bring it in line with the contemporary asset management environment. APCC’s role in developing the previous guide and contribution to this update is greatly appreciated.

The guide provides a contemporary outline to assist those responsible for delivering and managing built assets to meet community and service delivery needs. The Guide also highlights the need to minimise risk, achieve value-for-money, and promote sustainability. It articulates key strategies to assist in this undertaking.
